Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, CDA, or minimum 2 years of experience in child care and an Ohio School-Age Professional Endorsement within the first 60 days of employment. Must pass background check, drug test and pre-employment physical. Experience with children and/or management preferred.
Availability: MUST BE AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY from 6:30-8:30 AM and 3:00-6:00 PM during the Kent City School’s school year (8/22/22 – 6/1/23). Training can begin immediately based on applicant’s availability. Summer employment available, but not required.
Job Responsibilities: Managing up to 3 staff and supervising up to 36 Kindergarten-6th graders in before and after school programs located in the Kent City Schools and the City of Kent Recreation Center. Following and maintaining ODJFS state childcare licensing regulations for the program, interacting with parents and school faculty, attending staff meetings and child development trainings, adapting to behavioral and educational needs of children, applying conflict management within children, marketing the program, completing lesson plans, etc. Professionalism, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task is a must!
Rate of Pay: $11.00-$16.00/hr. + Sick Time – Pay Rate is based on Education & Experience

SEASONAL PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER
(6 Month / 1040 Hours)
RESPONSIBILITY
Under the general supervision of the Parks Supervisor and the Parks Crew Leader, works on a 40 hour per week basis to perform a variety of tasks in gardening, general grounds maintenance, rock and concrete work; constructs and maintains parks and recreation facilities; performs other job related duties as required.
TYPICAL TASKS (Illustrative Only)
Operates pickup trucks, walk behind and riding mowers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers, sanders, drills, and a variety of manual and power tools to maintain a complex park area, including trees, shrubs, grass, tables, restrooms and other park facilities; performs general grounds and park facility maintenance including planting, fertilizing, trimming, painting, sanding, cleaning, janitorial, concrete work; assist in construction, maintenance and repair projects by performing work related to city park and recreation facilities maintenance and development; makes minor repairs and services equipment as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Seasonal Park Maintenance workers must exercise care and follow safety rules and guidelines when working with power tools, mechanical equipment and vehicles. Park maintenance workers work out of doors on a year round basis and may be exposed to inclement weather conditions.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods used in landscaping, gardening, concrete work, and horticulture; knowledge of basic methods and materials used in building, maintenance, and repair work; working knowledge of plant pests and diseases; ability to operate and service equipment skillfully and safely; ability to perform physical labor; ability to carry out assigned tasks and to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
NECESSARY EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of valid Ohio State Vehicle Operator’s license and driving record, sufficient to meet the City of Kent’s insurance carrier requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains and develops parks and recreation grounds and facilities by operating a variety of hand, power, and mechanical tools and equipment, such as tractors, mowers, trucks, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sanders, and drills.
2. Maintains park facilities by cleaning, painting, sanding, constructing, and repairing park equipment such as tables, restrooms, buildings and shelters.
3. Maintains park grounds by planting, fertilizing, and trimming, watering and providing general care for trees, grass, shrubs, and flowers.
4. Keeps equipment in safe and efficient working condition by performing minor repairs and servicing equipment and tools as required.
Pay Rate: Starting @ $12.05/hour
